This is the first post in my 100-day blog streak that's all about training and preparing for the Lincoln Marathon. I know I'm a bit early, but it's never too early to start working on your goals. ;)
What I did yesterday: 5 mile run- felt pretty good; didn't intend to make it into a tempo run but I progressively ran a bit faster. My calves have been getting so ridiculously sore when I wear my Kinvaras which never happened before a couple months ago. I hope it's strength issues from not running for a while and then running in Hokas. I don't get sore at all in my Hokas or my Montrails. The Montrails have the same 4mm drop, but a bit more cushioning so I'm guessing it's just a cushioning thing. I guess your calves have to work a bit harder when there is less between you and the ground (?), I just would never have imagined it would have been that much. Big salad for dinner with my first glass of wine in the new year (definitely keeping that to a minimum in 2016), and a small-ish piece of chocolate cake. Oops.
What I plan to do today: 30 minutes on the bike... the "additional" work out I added for a sixth day of training. It's all about explosive power and interval training. Also, Jamba Juice. (TMJ sucks.) And out for sushi tonight.
Impediments: None foreseen.
One new thing I did this week: Bought cashew "cheese" at Whole Foods. Made it into a grilled cheese sandwich. It was actually amazing.
Today's MilePost quote: "Running is a big question mark that's there each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'"
That's fair. Think I'll be strong today.
